by the time I get around to putting the game together I doubt I’d want to use these as the sprites that come up alongside conversations but I just wanted to have a go!

i’m so sick of whales

janky at parts but I don’t care I’ll fix it later I’m MOVING ON

still janked, getting there though - it’s almost 8am so I’m gonna stop now!
(not sticking with that dark fill btw, that’s just for now)

yeah, this needs more in-between frames… I guess it looks janky because each frame’s image covers a much larger distance than the smaller things do?
Look at me, learning things.

experimenting with, uh… colouring techniques I guess? But pixels? I remember a flash series I used to watch, I think it was called tiny plaid ninjas… and the character’s colouring would be left blank (I assume) and then a static image background (of a plaid pattern) would show through. I remember thinking that look was pretty neat, so I tried it out with this shark. It also leaves you the option then of removing the lines and just having a sort of ghost image which I quite like the look of too.

I want there to be a shift from blues and purples to yellows and reds in the first level (as it changes from underwater-y to more of a light and air based environment) so I want these lil fish to be a sort of reflection of that? At the start, slow moving shoals of blue-based fish that quickly scatter when the player “shoots” (takes a picture) and then floaty red-based flocks of flying fish towards the end.
these are pretty much the ghost fish from kin but even smaller!

getting there! Still a few more plants and items to add in, then I’ll do the lighting and then I’ll fiddle with the colours.

ghost fish don’t quite have the act of living completely down - they don’t realise they’re meant to swim under the water, rather than over it.
