I think the best plan of action for the next two weeks is to focus on the main events and art assets. I need to have a structured idea of game progression and doing major sprites I know will be included no matter what won’t hurt (and it keeps me enthusiastic!). The general idea is in my head but it needs a lot more work. After I have a concrete plot I’ll switch focus to building.

oh also I very much like the idea of each of them having a specific sword they’ve had since they can remember which they get through their very first fetch quests but can only use at the end. I’m thinking that sword/scythe idea that I had a while ago for comic (death > grim reaper > scythe) and a flaming sword for jason (angels have those, right? kinda associated with...

I had to go on a train twice today so I wrote down a lot of rpg related ideas in a little book. Lots of various thoughts scattered after the read more.

I started thinking about a name. I… didn’t get very far. Some sort of synonym for balance? For contrast? Opposite? I’ll keep thinking about it.
the boss… I think encounters with it before a final fight would be...
(this blog gained quite a few followers without me noticing. Just so you know I treat this purely as a place to chuck ideas and game development stuff! Almost everything will be about my currently untitled rpg game I’m making about a ghosty girl and a mothy guy. ok anyway I need to write down a thing).
I’m playing with the idea of having chunks of descriptive text in game but, man, if...

let’s brainstorm while I eat an ice lolly.
what type of ghost enemies should there be?
- little colourful ghosts with no real thoughts, the ghosts of dandelion seeds that never got to live. float around in flocks, like air jellyfish.
- sentient “holes through a sheet” ghosts with feathered arms, the main habitants of the block, act as the npcs.
what can die?
- dreams,...

an idea wrote in a book that I almost threw away (non rpg). I’ll type it out as is.

I want to write a story. A story full of drama and mixed feelings and angst, and, I also want it to be a game - one with the simplest graphics possible yet it still captures people’s imagination and makes them feel involved. Point and click yet a large space for descriptive blocks of text....

I like the idea of you starting off as comic - exploring the towerblock of ghosts (some amiable, some not), setting her character and situation through playing her. Event occurs, she leaves for the first time since she can remember to explore and then player switch to jason, like a new chapter.
Player explores his home for a while (friendly...

(I wrote a bunch of ideas in between some lecture notes so I’ll write them here so they don’t get lost. Very rough! Probably will change).

- event occurs that causes life and death to take physical forms (the two kids)
- triggers an apocalyptic like scenario
- fast forward, comic and jason living day to day, trying to survive in the abandoned city which is overrun...
